Black students and students with disabilities in MPS are continually disciplined at disproportionately high rates compared to white students. We must invest in proven ways to reverse this trend through robust restorative justice practices, increasing the number of licensed therapists, social workers, psychologists, and guidance counselors, reducing classroom sizes, providing culturally responsive training and curriculum, supporting youth with career education programs, and keeping our schools police-free.
